The Richmond Trolleys, 1985

Following on the success of my previous one-shot publications, "Not the Green Section" and "The Richmond Inquirer", I delved into the world of local sports with the publication of "The Richmond Trolleys Official Souvenir Brochure and pamphlet" in March, 1985. Like the others, it was given away for free, printed by Richmond's Kinker Press on glossy paper and even stapled for authenticity.

It died. Sports fans didn't get it. Non-sports fans missed the point. I shrugged and moved on to the next project. But here it is, just in case you missed it the first time around in 1985. It holds up well. Click on them to see them full-size.

Cover: "Free to Trolley fans; $1 all others".

Page 2: Gotta love Food Cow. A big smudge was intentionally added to Food
Cow's ear to enhance the amateurish quality, but Steve at Kinker Press
cleaned it up.

Page 6: I thought at the time the idea of browsers being welcome in a prosthetics
store was hilarious.

Page 7: Was the Trolleydome really supposed to be over half a mile in height?
Maybe Bubba transposed a comma.

Page 8: Great shot of the Trolleys in action. The ad is a takeoff
on Richmond's Best Products, a popular catalog-based retail store. This ad is a
premonition -- Best filed its first bankruptcy in January, 1991.
