Doswell Residents Rank their Favorite 12-Tone Composers

For the seventh year in a row, Arnold Schoenberg (Left) topped the list of Doswell residents’ favorite 12-tone composers, with the atonal serialist squeaking out a 40-38% victory over 2nd-place finisher Anton Webern, who moved up three spots over the past year.

Last year’s 2nd-place finisher, Alban Berg, dropped to third due to a poor showing with the 8-14-year-olds. “The expressionistic idioms of the Second Viennese School is so last year,” stated 9-year-old Tiffany Waltham, before she went outside to roller skate in her driveway.

Eric Dolphy came in a distant 4th, up two spots from last year though technically a tonal bebop variant. New to the list was Pierre Boulez, who finshed 8th, and Frank Zappa, who technically was not a 12-tone composer but whose music was freaking crazy enough to qualify.
