The Doswell Stop N’ Go Mart has flown in the face of numerous international grocery sellers and bought the Richmond-based Ukrops grocery stores.
“It was time for the Stop N’ Go to go global in the snack food, beer and lottery ticket market,” sayd Ramud Dumar, who we thought all this time had only one name but in fact his first and last names form a palindrome. “I submitted my competitive bid for Ukrops, and I was awarded the franchise.”
Ramud’s bid? “Over $1,000”, but the exact amount remains confidential per the terms of the sale.
“Mr. Ukrop himself came into the Stop N’Go just this morning,” reports Dumar. “He presented me the bill of sale, I gave him a check, we signed comfidentiality agreements, shook hands then he got in his panel van and left.”
Panel van? Exactly what did this Mr. Ukrop look like? “You know,” said Dumar, “short, heavyset, brown leisure suit, a lot of rings – and a dandy comb-over.”
Okay.
