Dixie Treat Trailer Court Pursuing Historical Designation
Preliminary paperwork has been filed to apply for application for a zoning variance after form ZD-27J/6 is approved by the county treasurer for board approval of a civil war battlefield to be built on the Dixie Treat Mobil Home Court property – the part that was destroyed in the van fire of 2005.
“A Civil War battlefield made the most sense,” says Dixie Treat spokesperson Herthel Wedig, “There was really a battle down the road, at the North Anna site. Surely, the fighting could have spilled over from the North Anna site up here to the Dixie Treat site?”
Wedig says the preliminary plans call for the roping off of about 1 acre with those velvet ropes like they have at Taco Bell. “It was called the 1863 Battle of Dixie Treat, or something to that effect.” She says haltingly, her eyes shifting back and forth with suspicion. “We want to maintain our trailer court heritage, which is very important to our current residents.”
Also important will be an actual reenactment of the 1863 Battle of Dixie Treat, which oddly cannot be found in any civil war battle documentation but really occurred, according to Wedig. “We plan to use actual Dixie Treat residents for the reenactment,” she says. “According to records the confederate soldiers were intoxicated during the battle, therefore authenticity will be strictly adhered to by the re-enactors. Also, per historical accuracy, many of them also will have to fight with their pants down around their ankles.”
“Or cankles, as the case may be.”
