Newfromdoswell was surprised and saddened to see that two Richmond blogs are encroaching on Doswell turf, bringing unneeded attention to the Hanover town in a bald-faced attempt to leach loyal Newsfromdoswell readers to their own websites.
The Richmond-based blog Tobacco Avenue today got a foothold in Doswell with the publication of a news story regarding a Chesterfield couple tricking their children into thinking they were at Disney World, not Kings Dominion.
Also, the blog Worldwidebrian published a short of a possible new roller coaster for 2010, based on the sighting of what appears to be a chunk of new coaster track laying on the ground behind the Anaconda.
Kings Dominion officials are also not happy with either story, noting in Brian's case that the chunk of steel on the ground is not a piece of new coaster track at all, but a scrap left over from either construction of the Dominator coaster or "Boo-Boo's Snack Shack", a popular eatery. "It is not unusual to have a part or two left over from construction of a new ride or restaurant", says park spokesperson Fay Zimmer. "for example, when the 'Flight of Fear' was completed, we had a truckload of stuff left over. That chunk of red track behind the Anaconda has been there for years."
Zimmer also bristled at TA's insinuation that Kings Dominion is a low-budget alternative to Florida's Disney World. "Tricking Kids into thinking Kings Dominion is really Disney World is like tricking kids into thinking Newsfromdoswell is a low-budget alternative to Tobacco Avenue, which it is not." she added, citing her preference for the local-based blog and not the fancy, big-city ones.
