Doswell Man Applies for Patent on Home-Made Bass Boat

Or would have, had it not sunk on its maiden voyage

New Market Mill Road resident Charles Hammer plans to apply for a patent on his own bass boat as soon as he finishes his beer and retrieves the homemade contraption from the bottom of the warm side of Lake Anna.

Using only a lawn chair, a trolling motor, a Honda battery, 2x4s, twine and foam insulation cut into strips, Hammer says he has “revolutionized” the bass boat industry, and plans to market his invention to the new Bass Pro Shop mega-store off Lewistown Road.

Hammer is currently unemployed, but was awarded $15,000 in an out of court settlement with Big Lots after a display of third-world mouthwash featuring screaming Arabic insurgents on the label fell over on him.
