This spring Doswell farmers who grow unnaturally large, phallic vegetables will no longer have their picture taken with them due to the unfortunate “butternut squash” photo published last year in the Ashland Herald-Progress.“We are done with the suggestive vegetable photos” says Herald-Progress Editor Malcolm Pace. “I am not going to subject my family, and the kind readers of our paper, to that sort of vegetable pornography again.”
Pace noted also that he has instructed his photographer to turn down requests for private pictures. “Those pictures turn up on the internet they are there forever,” claims Pace, “I cannot have my name or reputation attached to that sort of pandering.”
