“Carytown”-Style Couple Seen Hanging Around in Doswell

New residents seem a little artsy to some.

A young unidentified couple has been spotted around Doswell looking as if they would be more at home wandering the eclectic shops of Richmond’s Carytown shopping district on a Sunday afternoon instead of the rural back roads of western Hanover.

“Yea, I saw them,” claims local resident Herman Stover, “I passed them on my tractor. He had black hair that stood straight up, and was wearing those skinny black jeans and black Chuck Taylor Converse tennis shoes. He had on a t-shirt with some band name on it, and he had tattoos on his arms.”

“The woman had really white skin and dark hair with a gold or yellow streak through the middle of it,” he continues, “she had on these glasses with thick black frames, and had a purse that looked more like a backpack. They looked kind of weird to me.”

Armand, the one-name foreign clerk at the Doswell Stop-n-Go convenience mart claims the couple has been in the store at least twice. “They come in, they smile, and they buy Black Label beer and Camel Light cigarettes. One time the lady she buys a honey bun. She so skinny, I tell her to eat more of them. She smiles nice. The man, he not so nice. He doesn’t smile as much. He didn’t take off his sunglasses indoors. But they always pay cash.”

Some residents wonder if the couple actually lives here or in fact may be lost or stranded. “I think they might be renting, or even possibly squatting in one of Doswell’s abandoned houses.” Speculates Mount Hope Church Road resident Howard Wolfsen. “Maybe they were passing through on their way from New York to Carytown and their crap bumper sticker-covered car broke down.”

A door-to-door search of almost 30 Doswell addresses conducted by Newsfromdoswell failed to turn up the strange interlopers. Sightings are appreciated, and should be reported in the comments section.
